The western storms that dropped 62"/~5 feet of snow in 5 days have been disastrous for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Saturday December 27th an inbounds avalanche claimed the life of a Wilson, WY resident and partially buried another, story here. Monday December 29th another inbounds avalanche struck a mid-mountain building (pics, pics, pics,pics *www.stephenkoch.com )containing several restaurants and shops, more here. All out of bounds gates have been voluntarily closed until conditions can be managed. And an urban avalanche warning has been instated due to heavy snows in the town of Jackson. In other news. I have purchased my ticket and will be headed to Jackson at the end of January.
